Scholarships for Future Huskies
By Mona Pitre-Collins, Director, Office of Merit Scholarships, Fellowships & Awards
THE MARTIN FAMILY FOUNDATION offers financial awards to community college students and graduates interested in eventually obtaining baccalaureate degrees from the University of Washington, Seattle. This opportunity is designed to encourage and assist students who are nearing completion of their community college careers or already possess an associate’s degree to pursue the baccalaureate at UW.
Martin Honors Scholars may receive $10,000 per year in support for up to three years at UW. Awarded on a competitive basis, the Martin Honors Scholarship recognizes outstanding accomplishments in academics and leadership, a strong record of community involvement, and a clear sense of purpose. Candidates need not have formally applied to UW to submit applications for the Martin Honors Scholarship. Actual award, however, will depend on admission to UW.
The application deadline is Tuesday, July 5, 2013. Application procedures include a written application and personal interview. Multiple Martin Family Honors Scholarships are awarded each year. A link to the application can be found online.
Eligibility requirements include completion of a minimum of 36 transfer credits at an accredited community college in Washington State, legal residency in Washington State, US citizenship or resident alien status with intent to become a US citizen. Selected students for the Martin Honors 2013 application must have a UW transfer date not later than winter quarter 2014.
