Pre-health students volunteering at Meridian Center for Health

Neighborcare Health is an organization of community health clinics, and we are the largest provider of healthcare for low-income and uninsured individuals and families in Seattle. We do not turn anyone away due to inability to pay and specialize in quality, culturally-sensitive care. We provide primary medical care and dental services as well as a host of other free services for our established patients- including visits with our nutritionist, the diabetes educator, a counselor, social worker, as well as our eligibility specialists for help enrolling in health insurance who can be seen by anyone in the community.

We are currently recruiting volunteers around the opening of our new building, the Meridian Center for Health, right next to our current clinic 105th and Meridian Ave N on December 16, 2015. The Center will house three organizations and will be a one-stop shop for healthcare: Neighborcare Health will provide medical and dental services along with a pharmacy, Valley Cities will provide behavioral health and recovery services, and Public Health will provide WIC and maternity support services. This integrated health delivery model will serve to reduce barriers that patients face in accessing health services and address unmet patient needs in North Seattle. We need volunteers in two capacities:

1) Welcome Desk volunteers will staff our welcome desk and greet patients and help them navigate the building, as well as being responsible for other building wide projects.

2) Community Outreach volunteers will help me in outreach efforts throughout Seattle with emphasis in North Seattle. This includes health fairs, tabling, diabetes and blood pressure screenings, health insurance outreach, and patient care management and education initiatives.
