The American Student Dental Association (ASDA) is holding its third annual National Predental Week on Feb. 21-27, 2016. We hope you will encourage predentals at your school to participate.

During this time, ASDA will promote resources and events for predentals, including two free webinars about scholarship and loan repayment and hot topics in dentistry. Predentals that join ASDA during that week will be eligible for prizes. The predental club that recruits the most predental members from Feb. 21-27 will earn a "virtual visit" from ASDA, which includes a personalized webinar with ASDA leaders, lunch provided by ASDA and raffle prizes for their members. Many ASDA chapters will hold their own events as well.

ASDA is the premier resource for students interested in a career in dentistry. There is an ASDA chapter at each of the 65 U.S. dental schools and more than 90 percent of all U.S. dental students are members. ASDA also supports a rapidly growing community of more than 2,300 predental student members.

In addition to resources like the "Getting into Dental School" handbook, DAT preparation resources, predental checklists and application timelines, ASDA offers leadership training and other tools to assist students during their journey to becoming a dentist.

Learn About the UW School of Dentistry’s Rural/Underserved Program

Are you a pre-dental student? Are you interested in working as a dentist in rural and/or underserved areas? Consider applying to the UW’s RIDE program.

The RIDE program was developed by the University of Washington School of Dentistry (UWSOD) to address oral health workforce needs in rural and underserved communities. RIDE is a partnership with Eastern Washington University (EWU), Washington State University (WSU) and the UW School of Medicine WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho) program to create educational efficiencies as well as innovations. The RIDE curriculum includes a significant amount of training in rural and underserved areas to increase the likelihood that students will practice in these communities after graduation and has served as a model program for other universities.
