New Biochem Class at Shoreline

Shoreline’s Chemistry Department is excited to offer a new course this Spring 2011: CHEM 255, Introduction to Biochemistry. This lecture course is 3 credits and taught on T and Th from 12:30 to 2:00. Prerequisite: CHEM& 243 (may be taken concurrently) and BIOL& 211.

The course will be taught by professor emeritus and "Professor of the Year" award winner, Clarita Bhat and Tom Breithaupt, who is a biochemist and has taught this course before at UW.

This course will be followed by CHEM 256 in Summer Quarter. The courses are equivalent to U of Washington’s Biochemistry 405 and 406. Many dentistry, medical, pharmacy and other graduate level health professional programs require such courses.

Shoreline’s Chemistry Department was approached by UW’s Pharmacy Program to develop this course, because the UW courses cannot provide enough spaces for students and our Chemistry Department is regarded among the best in our region. If you have questions, please contact Chemistry Department Chair, Karen Kreutzer (kkreutze@shoreline.edu).
